About Me

I'm Kyla Saphir and I have been teaching Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga for over 7 years. I have practiced yoga for myself for 20 years in every city I’ve lived in. I began practicing restorative yoga as a balance to my active lifestyle. Yoga provided me with a calm and healing space to unwind and recover. While teaching in early childhood classrooms in Seattle, Buenos Aires, and Chicago, I used yoga to help de-stress and center myself after long days with Preschoolers, Kindergartners, and Second Graders. I have a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education.

During my pregnancy with my daughter in Seattle, I practiced prenatal and postnatal yoga. These classes gave me time to connect to my ever changing body and baby as well as helped me build a community of new moms.  I fell in love with pre/postnatal yoga and the benefits they provided. My goal in getting certified to become a yoga instructor was to grow and support this community of women through yoga.

I decided to pursue my 200 hour yoga certification through Sakhi Yoga Training in Columbia SC, which I completed in August 2017. I am a Yoga Alliance RYT 200 Hour certified teacher. I knew I wanted to teach yoga to pregnant women and new moms so I went on to complete my Prenatal and Postnatal 90 hour certification in the spring of 2018 through the Prenatal Yoga Center of New York. I am also certified to teach Hypnomothering, a technique to help moms have a gentler, more rested transition into motherhood.

As I have worked more and more with new moms in yoga classes, I noticed a need for support after baby comes home. I am now a Postpartum Doula and will obtain my certification in 2025 with Nurturing Doula Dream.  My husband and I had a postpartum doula after our daughter was born. She would come for overnights to help answer my never ending questions about our baby, help feed and put her to sleep, and she did light housework. She gave me rest and helped me care for myself and family better. That's what I hope to provide for new families only during the daytime.

When I’m not teaching yoga or working as a doula, I’m writing children's books, traveling, and hanging out with my family and puppy in Milwaukee.
